Brawn: Budget cap reduction needed to keep ‘big teams' in F1
Formula 1 would have lost manufacturers without the announcement of a reduced budget cap for 2021, according to Ross Brawn. The managing director of motorsports at Formula 1 told the FIA eConference this week that the decision to cut the cost cap to $145m from the initial $175m was crucial in safeguarding the sports future in the light of the coronavirus pandemic. 'This crisis gave us the opportunity that we knew the budget cap always would,' Brawn said. 'Once you set a budget cap, you can always adjust it.
