FIA delays switch to standardised brake components
The FIA has confirmed that it will delay a switch to standardised brake components, which it had hoped to implement for the 2021 Formula 1 season. As part of the FIA's cost saving measures, it has looked at introducing a number of standardised parts which would see just one company supplying the entire grid. Brakes were included on this list and Italian supplier Brembo had been preselected as the preferred bidder, but the FIA says this move will now be delayed for 'safety and performance' reasons, as the 'real-world performance' of the 2021 cars isn't yet known.
