Rosberg recovers to podium from spin despite “nonsense” penalty

Malaysian Grand Prix – Nico Rosberg recovered to third place after being hit at the start by Sebastian Vettel, causing the Mercedes driver to spin. Rosberg was dropped to last after the collision which caused Vettel to retire. He began to fight his way back through the field, before pitting under the first virtual safety car for the hard tyres. His pace was such to haul him back through the field to fifth behind Kimi Raikkonen, the two Red Bulls and his team mate in the lead. Rosberg made an aggressive move on Raikkonen after the second round of pit stops, making contact with the Finnish driver into Turn 2.
