Rosberg on pole as reliability problems strike Hamilton in tenth

Nico Rosberg will start the Russian Grand Prix from pole position after going unchallenged during the final top-ten shoot-out when team-mate Lewis Hamilton's engine failed on his Q2 in-lap, consigning him to the garage for the remainder of the session. Rosberg's 1m35.417s time dominated Q3 as Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel finished seven-tenths adrift in second - though the German will start seventh after serving a gearbox penalty. That promotes third-placed Valtteri Bottas from third to second for the race, with the second Ferrari of Kimi Raikkonen qualifying fourth, to start third ahead of Felipe Massa.
