Rosberg quickest in opening session in Bahrain

Ahead of today's opening session the air temperature is 22 degrees C, whilst the track temperature is 32 degrees. It's also quite windy. The big news, of course, is that Fernando Alonso will play no part in the weekend, the Spaniard having suffered a couple of cracked ribs in that horrific Melbourne crash. Which means that McLaren understudy Stoffel Vandoorne gets his chance to shine, the Belgian youngster having flown back early from Japan where he was taking part in pre-season testing for Super Formula.
