Australian Grand Prix – F1's new qualifying format has drawn a lot of controversy after producing a damp squib of a session in Melbourne. The qualifying format, consisting of a system revolving around 90 second eliminations in the latter half of each session, only became publicly known as even an idea only a month ago. It was then rushed through the decision making process, becoming ratified for Australia just days before the event. The drivers, speaking at Barcelona testing, had their reservations and most seemed against the change from the old format, which never really drew major criticism in the first place.
