FIA approves F1 qualifying change, cockpit safety improvements

F1 rule makers have announced its decisions from meetings in Geneva on Tuesday with the new qualifying knockout format being unanimously voted in, new cockpit safety measures introduced for 2017 and the revision of regulations postponed until the end of April. In an FIA press release it explained: “Upon the recommendation of the Strategy Group, the F1 Commission passed a series of new measures designed to deliver a faster, more spectacular FIA Formula One World Championship.
