Hamilton storms to Italian GP pole position

Lewis Hamilton set the fastest time in qualifying for the Italian Grand Prix, securing his 11th pole position of the season. The championship leader easily progress through to Q3 and put in a 1:23.397 with his first attempt. It proved to be unbeatable and he was unable to improve on his second lap. Hamilton took his seventh consecutive pole position, with Kimi Raikkonen in second place for Ferrari. The Finnish driver was two and a half tenths further back and moved ahead of team-mate Sebastian Vettel with his last attempt.
