Broken fixing caused Massa's woes in qualifying
A broken fixing within the turbo wastegate of his Mercedes Formula 1 engine was the cause of Felipe Massa's qualifying woes at the Canadian Grand Prix. The Williams driver failed to make it out of Q1 in Montreal after complaining about a lack of power. Subsequent investigation by his team confirmed where the issue was, and that a simple parts replacement should cure his issue for the race. Williams head of performance Rob Smedley explained: "It was the fixing within the wastegate mechanism of the turbocharger that failed. So it will be changed for tomorrow.
