Vettel hoped Mercedes gap would be smaller

– Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel says he had hoped to be much closer to the Mercedes drivers during Spanish Grand Prix qualifying.Vettel had to settle for third position in Saturday afternoon's grid-deciding session, 0.777s adrift of pole-sitter Nico Rosberg."I think disappointed is the wrong word," said Vettel after qualifying."It is great confirming we are right behind, but of course we would like to be closer."We are not on pole or second; they [Mercedes] showed in every session this weekend that they are very competitive with either tyre so I expect them to be strong tomorrow."Hopefully we will be closer as we've been better in race pace but I think it will...
