Van der Garde reaches agreement with Sauber not to race

Giedo van der Garde has agreed not to take part in this weekend's Australian Grand Prix for Sauber, bringing an end to the legal troubles for now ahead of further talks with the team next week. The Supreme Court of Victoria found that van der Garde was entitled to race this weekend, but without a superlicence he was unable to take part. Sauber then ran a risk of being in contempt of court, but Saturday's hearing led to a settlement in which van der Garde agreed not to pursue his right to drive. "With respect to the interest of motorsport, and F1 in particular, I have decided to give up my legal rights to race this weekend at the Melbourne Grand Prix," he said in a statement....
