Government agrees to new Spa deal

– Walloon Economy Minister Jean-Claude Marcourt has given Belgian Grand Prix organisers permission to extend the country's Formula 1 contract until 2018.Despite a loss of seven million euros from the 2014 event, Marcourt says the positive impact on the regional economy justifies the renewal.Spa-Francorchamps, one of the longest-serving Formula 1 venues, had a previous agreement running through the 2015 campaign."There will be a Grand Prix in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018," said Marcourt during a session in the Walloon Parliament.Marcourt added that the FIA has not asked for any investments in the circuit.
