Vergne confirms Toro Rosso departure

Jean-Eric Vergne has officially confirmed that he will not be driving for Toro Rosso next season. The Frenchman, who announced the news on Twitter, made his F1 debut for the team in 2012 alongside current Red Bull Racing driver Daniel Ricciardo. He scored 22 points this season and finished seven races in the top 10. Confirmation of Max Verstappen's promotion to a 2015 Toro Rosso seat earlier in the year meant he found himself without a drive at the Italian outfit. However, Sebastian Vettel's Red Bull Racing exit announcement over the Japanese Grand Prix weekend and Daniil Kvyat being confirmed as his replacement opened up a seat at Toro Rosso.
