Mercedes names Wehrlein reserve F1 driver

Mercedes has announced that Pascal Wehrlein is its new reserve driver, with the 19-year-old having taken his first DTM victory on Sunday. Wehrlein progressed from karts to ADAC Formel Masters - a series he won in 2011 - before graduating to Formula 3 in 2012. Second place in the F3 Euroseries championship during his debut season sawy him claim the title of best rookie and he was quickly moved up in to DTM. Driving for Mercedes-Benz, Wehrlein became the youngest driver in series history last year, and yesterday took his first DTM victory at the Lausitzring as he won from pole.
