Wolff says cost cutting in F1 cannot be policed

Toto Wolff Mercedes motorsport boss Toto Wolff is adamant that cutting costs in Formula 1, by monitoring each team's expenditure, is a tough ask because it is virtually impossible to police. Speaking during the Monaco Grand Prix weekend Wolff said, 'How do you close the gap between a privately owned team, owned by a millionaire who enjoys going racing and a multinational global brand that tries to promote its products? It’s impossible.' 'So the question is: do we want to close the gap, narrow the gap of the cars and make the racing more tight, or do we want to really cut costs.
