Ex-F1 driver Vitaly Petrov secures drive in DTM

Former Formula One driver Vitaly Petrov has secured a seat in the 2014 DTM championship with Mercedes. The Russian driver, who tested for the German marque earlier in the winter in Portugal, last raced in F1 in 2012 with Caterham following two years with Renault. He was the first (and currently only) Russian driver to make a start in a world championship grand prix, and enjoyed some success as he notoriously played a part in scuppering Fernando Alonso's title hopes in 2010 in Abu Dhabi. However, his finest hour came at the 2011 Australian Grand Prix where he finished in third place.
