Newey: Weight limit rule should be changed
Red Bull Racing chief technical officer Adrian Newey has backed an increase in the minimum weight limit of next year's F1 cars.
It is thought that efforts to increase the weight limit from 690kg to 700kg, which has already been agreed for 2015, have been baulked by one team because unanimous support is required to make the change.
The topic has been tabled for discussion – alongside permanent numbers, a pole position award and mandatory pit stops – at the next F1 Strategy Group meeting which takes place next week.
Tall drivers like Nico Hulkenberg and Jenson Button have already raised concerns over the weight limit, which has been raised by 48kg to compensate for the heavier V6...
