Vettel stays fastest in second practice

Sebastian Vettel maintained his authority over the Formula 1 field during second free practice for the Indian Grand Prix. The German, who delivered a 1:25.722 on Pirelli's Soft tyre compound, led Red Bull team-mate Mark Webber by 0.289 seconds, while Lotus driver Romain Grosjean rounded out the top three. Vettel, who is a fifth place finish away from claiming a fourth world title, was the first driver to sample the Option rubber at the half-hour mark of the session. Having immediately stormed clear, he went on to complete even faster times through the opening two sectors of his second lap, but ultimately chose to return to the pit lane.
