Hamilton quickest in opening Singapore session

Mercedes AMG Petronas Lewis Hamilton set the fastest time during first practice for the Singapore Grand Prix. Hamilton's time of 1:47.055 was 0.365s clear of Red Bull's Mark Webber. Reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel set the third quickest time as night fell over Marina Bay. Hamilton's fastest time was over three seconds quicker than Vettel's FP1 pace-setting time in 2012, courtesy of the removal of the Singapore sling chicane and several parts of the track having been resurfaced. Nico Rosberg was fourth, with Kimi Raikkonen in fifth. The outgoing Lotus driver made a couple of mistakes at Turn 13 and had to take to the run-off.
