Singapore changes to yield a second

Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso believes the track modifications made ahead of this season's Singapore Grand Prix will improve lap times by around one second. As reported by GPUpdate.net in August, race organisers have removed the 'Singapore Sling' chicane from the Marina Bay venue, replacing it with a flowing left-hand corner. Speaking via Twitter, Alonso explained: "Working in the simulator. New Turn 10 in Singapore this year, without the chicane. The lap is around one second faster." To account for the increase in speed, governing body the FIA has chosen to place an additional layer of TecPro barriers along the exit of the corner for improved safety.
