Singapore scraps 'Singapore Sling' turn 10

The organisers of the Singapore Grand Prix have chosen to scrap the infamous turn ten, or 'Singapore Sling' as it's been dubbed in recent years. The corner has been the cause of numerous accidents and airborne moments thanks to its three high kerbs which form a fast chicane. Instead, the corner will be re-profiled for the sixth edition of the race this September, with a medium-speed left hander taking its place. Resurfacing at certain locations will also take place to reduce the number of bumps which often cause the cars to ground when fully laden with fuel and send sparks flying - a common sight during the night race.
