Tyre failures a new problem - Pirelli

Paul Hembery says Pirelli's multiple tyre failures at the British Grand Prix were caused by a new type of problem with its tyres. Pirelli has suffered several instances of delamination so far this season and has been working to resolve the issue. However, the tyre blow outs at the high-speed Silverstone saw dramatic blow outs on four cars, all on the left rear. Pirelli motorsport director Hembery said the issues were something new this weekend and that he could not add any more until further analysis is done. "Today wasn't foreseen," he said.
