Does McLaren have any fears from losing Thynne to Williams?

Williams has taken another major step in its long term restructuring effort by appointing Piers Thynne as the team’s new Chief Optimisation and Planning Officer, a role created to modernise and transform the organisation’s manufacturing and operational capability. Thynne joins from McLaren, where he served as Chief Operating Officer until earlier this year and played a central role in the team’s resurgence to back to back Constructors’ Championships in 2024 and 2025. Thynne will arrive at Grove in August as part of the senior leadership group, bringing more than 25 years of experience in operations and manufacturing.
