FIA outlaws active aerodynamics for Monaco GP on safety grounds

The FIA has officially decided that Formula 1’s new active aerodynamics system will not be used at next week’s Monaco Grand Prix, with safety concerns forcing a significant rule adjustment for the most famous street race on the calendar. Teams will run without “straight mode” – the low-drag aero setting introduced on the 2026 cars – after fears emerged that the cars would reach dangerously high speeds exiting Monaco’s Tunnel section, where run-off areas are severely limited.
