How did Racing Bulls’ fine shed light on a technical innovation?
The FIA has issued a 30,000 fine to Visa Cash App Racing Bulls after Liam Lawson’s car came to a halt during FP1 in Montréal and could not be removed using the mandated Clutch Disengagement System (CDS) — a failure that forced Race Control to red‑flag the session. The penalty, announced after a detailed stewards’ investigation, includes 20,000 suspended for 12 months, conditional on the team committing no further breaches of the same regulation. As the FIA stated: “The competitor (Visa Cash App Racing Bulls F1 Team) is fined 30,000, 20,000 of which is suspended for a period of 12 months subject to no further breach of this regulation by the Competitor, for either of its cars.”...
