Hamilton hails ‘pretty solid’ first day on track despite wet conditions

Lewis Hamilton was upbeat rather than frustrated after a rain-drenched first day of running with Ferrari in Barcelona, describing the opening day of the test as “pretty solid” despite conditions that left him chasing grip rather than lap times. The Briton took over driving duties on Tuesday afternoon after Charles Leclerc completed the morning programme, but any hopes of dry-weather exploration quickly faded as rain swept across the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
