A landmark triumph for Ginther, Honda and Goodyear in Mexico

Phillip van Osten 24/10/2024 at 12:1524/10/2024 at 12:17 ©TheCahierArchive The Mexican Grand Prix at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez will always hold a special place in Honda's history. On this day in 1965, the venue was the scene of the Japanese manufacturer's maiden win in F1, delivered by Richie Ginther after a dominant flag-to-flag triumph at the wheel of the RA272. The historical milestone was the American driver's first and only Grand Prix victory, but it was also the very first victory in Formula 1 for American tyre supplier Goodyear who add 367 more wins to its tally until its retreat from the sport at the end of the 1998 season.  ©TheCahierArchive
