Pirelli to research new F1 tyre concept for 2025

Pirelli is set to conduct research into the development for 2025 of a new low degradation tyre for F1 that will enhance the show on the track but still allow for diverse pitstop strategies. The FIA recently extended Pirelli’s exclusive supply deal with Formula 1 until 2027, with an option for an additional year. The company has subsequently held discussions with Formula 1 on the criteria the company will need to consider for its future products. In 2022, following F1’s transition from 13-inch to 18-inch wheels, and the introduction of ground-effect aerodynamics as part of the sport’s technical regulation shakeup, Pirelli introduced a new low-profile tyre.
