Russell couldn't overtake McLarens: 'I couldn't believe that'

George Russell finished his home race in fifth place, behind Max Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton and the two McLarens. The Briton had expected to easily overtake the McLarens after the safety car on his softer tyres, but that did not work out. Russell finds McLaren' s speed "very impressive". Article continues under ad After the safety car, the McLarens seemed to be in a tricky situation. Both Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri were driving on hard tyres, while all the drivers around them were on softer (and thus faster) tyres.
