Alpine admits to facing potential Alonso-Piastri dilemma for 2023

Alpine executive director Marcin Budkowski says the Enstone squad could be facing a dilemma in twelve months regarding its 2023 driver line-up and the fates of Fernando Alonso and protégé Oscar Piastri Piastri currently leads the FIA Formula 2 Championship and will serve as Alpine's official reserve driver in 2022. But the highly rated Aussie is hoping to return to active duty in 2023 and banking on a promotion to Formula 1 with Alpine. Esteban Ocon is committed to the French outfit on the basis of a long-term contract but Alonso's deal with Alpine will expire at the end of 2022, a term that Piastri with a potential opening for 2023.
