‘Illegal' Mercedes chatter ‘must stop' – van de Grint

Nov.23 Media and paddock chatter about Mercedes' supposedly illegal 2021 car 'must stop', according to former prominent F1 engineer Kees van de Grint. The narrative – surrounding questionably legal engines, rear wings and other Mercedes innovations – has come amid the reigning champions' close and bitter battle for the world championship with Red Bull. 'A lot of the things that appear in the media are often based on assumptions,' said Jan Lammers, a former F1 driver who is now boss of the Dutch GP. 'But I personally don't think there's really been a big change in how fast the Mercedes and Red Bull cars are this year,' he told NOS. 'I think the Mercedes has always been better....
