Smedley on why he'd choose to be Verstappen's engineer over Hamilton's

Article To news overview © Getty Images/Red Bull Contentpool Rob Smedley says he would opt to be a race engineer to Max Verstappen rather than Lewis Hamilton if faced with the choice. Smedley is one of Formula 1's best-known race engineers, having worked alongside Felipe Massa at Ferrari before moving to Williams. He left his role in 2018, and since then has taken the position of F1's Director of Data Systems. Whilst he has no plans to return to race engineering, Smedley admits he would choose to work with Verstappen above Hamilton purely because of where Verstappen is at in his career development.
