F1 boss provides update on plans for Sprint format

Article To news overview © Mercedes Formula 1 Chairman and CEO Stefano Domenicali has revealed that the 'F1 Sprint' format could feature at a third of events on the 2022 calendar. F1 Sprint brings several changes to the usual weekend format. Firstly, qualifying is moved to Friday evening, after only one practice session; this sets the grid for a 100km Sprint Qualifying race on Saturday, which in turn confirms the starting order for Sunday's Grand Prix. Great Britain and Italy played host to the first two Sprint events earlier this season, with one more planned for Brazil.
