Leclerc's love/hate relationship with his home grand prix

Article To news overview When Charles Leclerc first raced at Monaco in Formula 1 with Sauber back in 2018, he became only the second driver in the sport's history born in the Principality to compete on the iconic circuit. Leclerc still calls Monaco home, but in Formula 1 the return of a Monegasque to the grid didn't have a fairytale ending. He ended up retiring from that race after crashing into the back of Brendon Hartley in the last few laps. And things didn't get much better when he moved to Ferrari in 2019, when his second appearance in a home grand prix also ended back in the pit lane after a failed overtaking attempt on Nico Hulkenberg led to floor damage and a puncture.
