Eight out of 10 teams favour scrapping wind tunnels
Formula 1 chief technical officer Pat Symonds revealed that eight out of the 10 teams would like to do away with wind tunnels. It has long been essential for the success of a Formula 1 team to spend hours on end testing the aerodynamics of their car in the wind tunnel. But that time has now become more precious with the introduction of a sliding scale that means a team finishing higher in the Constructors' Championship is afforded less hours in the wind tunnel than those finishing below them. But according to Symonds, there are only two teams on the grid which still believe wind tunnels have a place in Formula 1.
