Alonso poised to undergo dental surgery after cycling crash

Fernando Alonso is poised to undergo dental surgery following his cycling accident on Thursday, GPFans understands. Alonso, who returns to F1 this year with the rebranded Alpine team, was involved in a road accident while cycling near Lugano, Switzerland, on Thursday. Article continues under video The 39-year-old, who was described as "conscious and well in himself", was taken to a nearby hospital for an initial examination. It is understood Alonso has sustained no fractures but dental work is required which has resulted in him being transferred to a specialist hospital in Bern.
