Brazil gets new TV deal as Band replaces Globo

Formula 1’s broadcast in Brazil this year will switch to the Grupo Bandeirantes network, ending Rede Globo’s 40-year spell as the championship’s broadcaster. Globo previously confirmed that it had not extended its agreement with Formula 1’s commercial rights holder Liberty Media and the Band group has now stepped in. Under the previous arrangement with Globo it was not possible for Formula 1 to launch its own in-house F1TV product in the country. Brazil remains one of Formula 1’s biggest TV markets despite it not having a full-time representative on the grid since Felipe Massa’s exit in 2017.
