Technical Insight: McLaren's PU switch prompts major changes

McLaren has faced a more demanding off-season than its rivals ahead of the 2021 Formula 1 season, as the Woking-based team is having to modify its current chassis to work with a new Power Unit. This has been made more difficult by the fact the current cars have to be carried over, unlike in a ‘normal' season when the team could simply redesign its car from the ground up to accommodate a different engine. However McLaren has been offered some leeway under the current development restrictions which could actually give them a slight edge over their competition.
