Tsunoda edges closer to F1 seat with Abu Dhabi test run

Yuki Tsunoda will test for AlphaTauri in Abu Dhabi next week as the prospects of the Japanese youngster graduating to Formula 1 in 2021 grow. Tsunoda has emerged as Red Bull and Honda’s leading protégé through 2020 and last weekend sealed third in the Formula 2 standings, finishing as highest rookie, 15 points down on champion Mick Schumacher. AlpahTauri has so far only confirmed Pierre Gasly for 2021 and Tsunoda is the front-runner for the seat currently occupied by Daniil Kvyat. Kvyat has repeatedly indicated that he is unlikely to remain with the team for next season.
