Perez thought his tyres would ‘explode'

Sergio Perez thought his tyres were going to 'explode' as he nursed them to a P2 finish at the Turkish Grand Prix. While his team-mate Lance Stroll struggled terribly on the intermediate tyres after leading early on at a rain-soaked Istanbul Park, Perez was able to find the secret to keeping them in great shape, a specialty of the Mexican racer. Perez was just about able to hold off the dueling Ferrari's behind to cross the line P2, a ninth podium of his career, but Perez worried that his intermediate tyres were going to 'explode' as he clocked up 47 laps on them.
