Marko explains decision on Gasly: 'We must not weaken AlphaTauri'

AlphaTauri announced prior to the race weekend in Imola that Pierre Gasly will stay with the Italian team in 2021. Because of the Frenchman's good performance, it looked like he would have a chance at Red Bull Racing, but in the end Gasly got a seat at AlphaTauri. According to Helmut Marko it is important that Gasly stays in the Red Bull family. "We need a very strong driver at AlphaTauri, especially if Tsunoda is going to drive there as a newcomer. Gasly is an essential part of our philosophy and we cannot weaken AlphaTauri, especially now that there are so many good drivers on the market for the other teams," Marko explains to Auto, Motor und Sport.
