Hamilton hit with 10-second stop/go penalty

Lewis Hamilton was handed a 10-second stop-go penalty at the Italian Grand Prix for entering the pit lane when it was closed. Hamilton started the race from pole and was building a solid gap in the opening stint as he pulled away from the McLaren of Carlos Sainz. However, when Kevin Magnussen's Haas came to a halt near the pit entry, the Safety Car was deployed. At this point Hamilton came into the pits at the request of Mercedes, though the LED boards through the Parabolica were displaying an ‘x' meaning the pit lane was closed.
