Sainz 'surprised' by Ferrari in-depth analysis of midfield

Carlos Sainz was surprised to discover the depth of Ferrari's analysis of his results, the future Scuderia charger not expecting, as a midfield contender, as much scrutiny from the Italian outfit. The 25-year-old Spaniard will leave McLaren at the end of the 2020 season and become a resident of Maranello where he will replace Sebastian Vettel alongside teammate Charles Leclerc. Sainz enjoyed an impressive 2019 season, helping deliver to McLaren the honorary title of 'best of the rest' in the Constructors' standings and capping off his campaign with a podium finish in Brazil, a performance that certainly boosted his stock in Ferrari's eyes.
