Russell disagrees with rookie driver FP1 rule in 2021

George Russell has insisted he disagrees with Formula 1's plan to introduce a rule in 2021 where each team would have to use a rookie driver in at least two FP1 sessions over the campaign. Despite Russell being helped by this scheme in the past (2017), the Williams driver has admitted he is not sure it's a great way for rookie drivers to express themselves in F1. "It's a great idea to try and give experience to young drivers," Russell said to RaceFans.net. "But personally, I don't think it's a good idea because going into an FP1 session for 20 laps, these rookie drivers are going to try and prove what they have.
