Ricciardo cops grid penalty for new turbo

Daniel Ricciardo Daniel Ricciardo will drop five places from his qualifying place for Sunday's Formula 1 Brazilian Grand Prix after taking a new turbocharger. The team reported the Australian's Renault engine picked up damage to the turbo following his retirement from the Mexican Grand Prix. Ricciardo has taken grid penalties on seven occasions in 2018, and has used six turbochargers in the 19 events thus far. Following the Mexican Grand Prix Ricciardo suggested his car was cursed after he was forced out while in contention for a podium result.
