Depailler clinches second GP win in Spain
©WRI2 On this day in 1979, Patrick Depailler won the Spanish Grand Prix at Jarama for Ligier, adding another victory to the French team's tally as it dominated the opening part of the season. It was the Frenchman's second Grand Prix triumph, having achieved his maiden win in1978 at Monaco with Tyrrell. Ligier would fail to win another race after Spain however, while Depailler would be forced to the sidelines after Monaco for the remainder of the season, the victim of a hand-gliding accident.
