F1: Sainz confident of Mercedes new engine
Ahead of the rules overhaul, Carlos Sainz admits that the Mercedes engine was one of the most significant factors in signing for Williams. Since the hybrid formula was first introduced in 2014, and upgraded in 2022, Mercedes powered cars have won 138 (56.1%) of the 246 grands prix held. Honda has won 68 (27.6%), Ferrari 24 (9.8%) and Renault 16 (6.5%), the last of which was a one-off in 2021. While Max Verstappen is still helping Honda to increase its tally, the fact is that Mercedes domination is likely to continue.
