Hamilton: This is such a monumental result for us

Between Friday night and this afternoon Mercedes found 1.7 seconds in the hitherto problematic W12 which, against expectations, Lewis Hamilton promptly put to maximum effect to claim second place on the grid for Sunday's Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Mercedes either unloaded some large sandbags or found a magic switch in time qualifying in Baku today, which the reigning World Champion put to good use as he tends to do in the times he faces real adversity.
