Ricciardo's Red Bull escape to Renault a ‘mistake'

Ex-F1 driver turned pundit Martin Brundle understands why Daniel Ricciardo joined Renault in 2019, but feels it was a 'mistake'. The 2018 campaign left Ricciardo a frustrated figure at Red Bull on several occasions, whether it was reliability issues or comings-together with team-mate Max Verstappen, the biggest one being their crash in Baku which took them both out of the 2018 Azerbaijan Grand Prix. But few expected the Australian to sign for Renault, a decision which Brundle said appeared to be a 'mistake' from the very start.
