Verstappen and Stroll cleared over Portugal FP2 collision

Stewards at Formula 1’s Portuguese Grand Prix have opted to take no further action after Max Verstappen and Lance Stroll collided in second practice. The Red Bull and Racing Point drivers came together through Turn 1 at the Algarve Circuit. Verstappen was able to recover to the pits while Stroll’s session came to a premature end after he became beached in the gravel. Stewards summoned both but deemed that neither was wholly responsible. “Stroll was on a fast lap and was allowed to pass by Verstappen on the lap preceding the incident,” read the report. “Given the information from his team and usual practice, Verstappen assumed that Stroll would back off for the next lap and moved...
